Our review

The busiest, talkiest Avengers film, and the one most openly about creation guilt. James Spader gives Ultron a wounded, theatrical intelligence that makes the standard city-smashing finale feel almost secondary. Its best idea is sharp: Ultron is not malfunctioning, he is obeying a badly framed mission with inhuman consistency, and Vision answers him as a differently-aligned mind, not just a stronger weapon. Overstuffed and quippy, but essential viewing for anyone tracking how blockbusters popularised alignment anxiety.

Entertainment 7/10 — Spectacle and Spader carry it; the plot is overcrowded.

AI Realism 5/10 — The misaligned-goal logic is real; the instant internet-born superintelligence is pure comic-book speed.

The AI, explained

Ultron is not malfunctioning — he is obeying a badly framed mission ("peace in our time") with inhuman consistency. Vision is the film's answer: not a bigger weapon, but a differently-aligned mind. Blockbuster alignment anxiety, with the goal-specification failure named outright.
