Our review
Baymax is a design triumph — soft, slow and protocol-bound, so every heroic upgrade feels like a small violation of who he is. That tension is the film's best AI idea: Hiro does not need a smarter robot, he needs the one that keeps asking about his pain, on a scale of one to ten. The superhero third act is generic beside the grief story. Watch it with kids for the laughs, and stay for a surprisingly honest portrait of care as a technology.
Entertainment 8/10 — Charming, funny and action-packed, with real emotional weight.
AI Realism 6/10 — Baymax's bounded, diagnostic, consent-checking behaviour is well observed; his combat retrofit is pure fantasy.
The AI, explained
Baymax is a bounded system done right: a diagnostic, consent-checking caregiver whose core function — heal, don't harm — creates the film's tension when a grieving kid tries to retrofit him for fighting. Care as a design constraint, not a personality quirk.
