Our review
The trilogy's closer is loud, sincere, and overstuffed, with the Zion siege feeling like a different, heavier war film bolted onto Neo's story. It does land its AI point: Smith is not evil machinery, he is unchecked replication with a personality, and stopping him requires bargaining, not just bigger guns. That negotiated peace is smarter than the finale's messianic glow suggests. Watch it to complete the arc, especially if Smith — smiling, multiplying, nihilistic — was always your favourite program.
Entertainment 6/10 — Impressive scale, but ponderous and less rewatchable than its predecessors.
AI Realism 6/10 — Self-copying agents and machine-human interdependence ring true; the mysticism does not.
The AI, explained
The war doesn't end by victory but by negotiation: even a superintelligence needs a deal when a rogue agent threatens the whole system. Smith is unchecked replication with a personality — a failure mode no amount of firepower fixes.
