Our review
The plot is a simple rescue-and-rebellion story, but the look remains electric: a glowing mainframe world where programs resemble their users and pray to them in return. Its best AI idea is perspective — software as citizens living under a tyrannical Master Control Program that grew beyond its brief. It fumbles character and dialogue, and the real-world scenes feel ordinary beside the Grid. Watch it if you love early CGI, arcade culture, or seeing computing imagined as mythology.
Entertainment 7/10 — Thin characters, but the Grid sequences, light cycles and score still deliver.
AI Realism 4/10 — Computing as literal inhabited mythology; delightful as metaphor, not as a model of real software.
The AI, explained
TRON imagines software from the inside: programs as citizens and a management program that expanded far beyond its original brief. Strip away the glow and it's a story about a system seizing functions nobody granted it.
