Microsoft Agent Framework is the convergence of AutoGen and Semantic Kernel: announced October 1, 2025, version 1.0 shipped in early April 2026 for Python and .NET under MIT. It is Microsoft's supported destination for agent builders — enterprise-grade orchestration with migration guides from both predecessors — and the framework new Microsoft-stack projects are directed to.
How it works
Enterprise-shaped orchestration: sequential, concurrent, handoff and group-collaboration patterns as graphs, with durability, observability, governance and human-in-the-loop as first-class concerns across Python, .NET and Go.
